MANILA, Philippines – National University has inched closer to a Final Four bonus in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament.

This, as the NU Lady Bulldogs, who absorbed a 23-25, 25-15, 26-28, 22-25 loss to Adamson last time around, have regained their winning ways as they dismantled a winless University of the East side on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

They improved to 10-2 win-loss card, while the Warriors dropped further to 0-12.

Skipper Bella Belen took matters into her own hands, leading the NU firepower with 16 points on 14 attacks and two service aces to go with 13 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions en route to a quick 25-8, 25-22, 25-12 triumph over the Lady Red Warriors.

"I'm very happy na nakabawi 'yung team kasi medyo masakit sa part namin 'yung nangyari last game," said Belen, who was the only player in twin-digit scoring.

"'Yon nga, natalo kami. Lagi ko lang nire-remind 'yung team na dapat, 'yung mga susunod na laro namin, dapat 'yung performance namin, mataas. Hindi porket 'yung kalaban namin is lower ranked team, mababa na rin 'yong performance namin," she added.

Aisha Bello had a decent nine-point contribution including four digs, while Vange Alinsug also had nine markers.

No player from UE breached double-digit scoring, as Khy Cepada, Van Bangayan, and Riza Nogales delivered six points each.
