MANILA, Philippines – Jill Santos hopes to leave her mark on the De La Salle University women's volleyball team.

Santos expressed readiness to play any time, sharing that she's to help La Salle's bid for another crown after its botched campaign last year.

"At the end of the day, whenever I’m needed, I hope I’ll be able to contribute to the team and help further their success," she said.

She's now on her fifth volleyball tour, as she was previously with National University and University of Santo Tomas in high school, a former COVID reserve for Ateneo de Manila University in UAAP Season 84, a former mainstay of the University of Illinois Chicago in US NCAA, and now, with the De La Salle Lady Spikers.

Santos said she's still in the adjustment process under the tutelage of Ramil de Jesus.

"I’m grateful to have a lot of experience playing volleyball. I think I’ve been in my adjustment process, adapting to a new system of play. The thing that keeps me going is my teammates, first and foremost, and I have full trust in my coaches. We’ve been working hard every day, in and out of the gym," she stressed.

Santos had a decent afternoon for the Lady Spikers as they faced cellar dweller University of the East, listing six attack points on 15 attempts, four digs, and four receptions.

They emerged with a straight-set win, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23, inching closer to league-leading NU Lady Bulldogs and keeping their grip on the second spot.

Santos said her performance could be a good jumping point for finding her groove.

"I think this is a good starting point for me, getting into my groove, adapting better to coach Ramil’s system. It’s always great to play alongside my teammates," she said.
