Photo from PVL Media Bureau.MANILA — Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) President Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara gave an update regarding the transfer of federations by PVL Champions Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips.

The pair of PetroGazz Angels stars previously expressed their desire to change their federation from the United States to the PNFV, and this is for them to play for Alas Pilipinas as locals in their upcoming competitions.

However, according to Suzara, the process of transfer has not gotten any significant traction as of press time as the two are yet to submit the required documents by the FIVB.

“I saw a press release from Brooke and MJ that they are willing to join the National team,” said Suzara during the PNVF’s announcement of partnership with the MVP Group of Companies for the Volleyball Men’s World Championships on Monday in Pasig.

“But to make it clear, we’re following up with their management for their requirements to be submitted for change of federation.”

“Until they submit their requirements, madali kasi sabihing na: ‘I want to join the National Team,’ but if you don’t submit their requirements, then we will request the USA Volleyball to change their federations.”

“We have been telling them to submit, and I am asking the help of PetroGazz to support their requirements,” he added.

Suzara, who is also an official of the FIVB, also lamented the chance to have included BVS and Phillips in the set of players whose transfers they approved previously.

“In fact, during last month’s executive meeting with FIVB, which I’m also the executive vice president, we approved 20 changes in federations. Sayang yun eh, hindi umabot,” he shared.

Among the requirements that are accepted are barangay certificates, cedula, electric bills, and other proof that they have been living here for the last two years.

Speeding up their submission will not only provide more talent for the National team, said Suzara. It can also be beneficial for the Alas squad which is looking to improve their World Ranking of No.52 at present.

“The sooner, the better, so they can be part of Alas,” he pointed out. “They will have the AVC Nations’ Cup in Vietnam, the Southeast Asian League in Vietnam and Hong Kong, and the Southeast Asian Games.”

“We get world ranking points during the Southeast Asian League and the AVC Nations’ Cup, so this is important for our World Rankings,” Suzara added.

Also in consideration for a change in nationality is PLDT star Savi Davison, although the Filipino-Canadian already expressed how playing for Alas is not a priority for her at the moment.
