MANILA (UPDATED) — Adamson University's Shaina Nitura recorded another history-making performance in their UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball ender.

Along the way, they swept University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18, Sunday afternoon at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Lady Falcons' prized rookie finished with 22 points, and this pushed her season total to 371 — the most ever scored by a player in a single season both in the men's and the women's division. Her production was also complemented by nine digs and six receptions.

"Ang pinaka-highlight ko this year is yung panalo namin ngayon kasi talagang teamwork yung nangyari kanina," said Nitura after the contest.

"Talagang lahat kami, kapag hindi gumagana yung isa, gumagana yung isa. Thankful kami kasi hindi ito yung last, but this is a beginning of a new season na agad."

As a result of this contest, both teams ended Season 87 with a 6-8 win-loss record.

But due to this straight-sets victory, Adamson is officially at No.5.

Aside from Nitura, senior Mayang Nique also showed out in what could possibly be her last UAAP game with 13 points and six receptions, Francis Mordi had 11, while Fhei Sagaysay tossed 17 excellent sets.

Down 16-15 midway through the third, AdU went on a five-to-nothing charge for a 20-16 advantage.

This then proved to be all the cushion that they needed as Nitura, with some errors from UP, finally completed their three-set win.

"We're grateful na for next year, may nakukuhaan kami na grassroots na mag co-continue ng samahan nila," an optimistic JP Yude said.

"May nawala na isa, pero I know naman na may purpose si Lord sa mga nawawala at dumadating. I know naman na this journey, hindi lang hanggang ngayon ito," he added.

On the other hand, Kianne Olango led the Fighting Maroons with seven points, while Irah Jabonetah and Kassy Doering followed with six and five, respectively.

Still, UP was able to replicate their best finish since Season 81 in 2019 with their six wins in 14 games.

They also defeated three Final 4-bound teams: National University, Far Eastern University, and De La Salle University.
