MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) â€“ Petro Gazz shook off a heartbreaking loss in its previous match and bounced back to book a quarterfinal spot in the AVC Women's Champions League.

The Angels made easy work of Hong Kong's Hip Hing, 25-8, 25-12, 25-12, on Tuesday to conclude the pool phase with a 1-1 win-loss slate, enough to propel themselves to the next round.

Just yesterday, the Rem Palma-captained squad absorbed a 15-25, 16-25, 25-19, 20-25 loss at the hands of Chinese Taipei's Taipower to open their AVC campaign.

With this, all Filipino teams have evaded elimination during the pool phase.

Petro Gazz reinforcement Gia Day took flight for the Angels, listing 18 points which all came from attacks including eight excellent digs and three excellent receptions, while Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips had nine points each.

Day still did not find satisfaction in herself despite showing the way for the Angels.

"I’m also a little disappointed with myself today. I did some messy things that I can clean up, I’m kind of always analyzing each day after and expecting the most out of myself," the American spiker said.

But she found a silver lining after their loss, as they "bonded" after that and "made the most of it."

"I think we really bonded last night over our loss and made the most of it. So I think as a team, we were all really motivated to just enjoy a win together so that was kind of the difference from last night to today."

No player from the Hong Kong side surpassed five points, as Sze Man Kwan tallied four, while Tsz Ching Lam had three markers.

The Angels will battle Beijing Baic Motor next, set for Thursday, April 24.
