MANILA, Philippines – No team has officially clinched a Finals berth yet in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

All Final Four teams are still in contention — Petro Gazz Angels, Creamline Cool Smashers, Akari Chargers, and Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

But among the four, the Angels have the clearest pathway to the championship round. A win over the Chargers formally grants them a chance for the gold.

For their part, the Flying Titans' road to Finals is much trickier. Below are the scenarios possible as the end of the semis loom.

But first, check out the current standings, points, and set ratios of all four teams.

PETRO GAZZ: 2-0 (6 pts; 3.000 set ratio)

CREAMLINE: 1-1 (3 pts; 1.333 set ratio)

AKARI: 1-1 (2 pts; 0.600 set ratio)

CHOCO MUCHO: 0-2 (1 pt; 0.500 set ratio)

In case of a triple tie for the top spot at 2-1, the team with the best record shall advance to the finals, while the remaining two teams will duke it out on Saturday for the second Finals berth.

Meanwhile, in case of a triple tie for the second spot at 1-2, the two best records shall fight for the second slot and the worst record will be relegated to the battle for bronze.

As this round-robin tournament is ranked through the FIVB Ranking System, points earned would matter first, and then set ratios (division of the number of all sets won by the number of all sets lost).

A tiebreak through points ratio will take place if records are still knotted.

--IF PETRO GAZZ AND CREAMLINE WIN--

If the current top two teams nail their respective assignments, no play-off will take place — Petro Gazz and Creamline take a shot for PVL glory. Akari and Choco Mucho will then play for the bronze medal.

--IF PETRO GAZZ AND CHOCO MUCHO WIN--

If Petro Gazz and Choco Mucho win, the Angels will advance to the finals. There will be a three-way tie at 1-2.

Scenarios of a three-way tie at 1-2

*If Akari loses in 3/4 sets and Choco Mucho wins in 3/4 sets: Akari 2pts (relegated to bronze match); Choco Mucho 4pts and Creamline 3pts = Choco Mucho vs Creamline in play-off on Saturday.

*If Akari loses in 5 sets and Choco Mucho wins in 5 sets: Akari 3pts, Choco Mucho 3pts, Creamline 4pts — Creamline to play-off on Saturday. Second team in play-off to be determined by set ratio.

*If Akari loses in 3/4 sets and Choco Mucho wins in 5 sets: Akari 2pts (relegated to bronze match); Creamline 4pts and Choco Mucho 3pts = Choco Mucho vs Creamline to play-off on Saturday.

*If Akari loses in 5 sets and Choco Mucho wins in 3/4 sets: Choco Mucho 4pts, Creamline and Akari tied at 3pts — Choco Mucho to play-off. Second team in play-off to be determined by set ratio.

--IF AKARI AND CREAMLINE WIN--

If Akari and Creamline triumph over their rivals, there will be a three-way tie at 2-1. This scenario automatically sends Choco Mucho to the bronze medal match.

If Creamline wins in 3/4 sets and Akari wins in 3/4 sets, Creamline and PGA will have 6pts each — superior set ratio to determine who will proceed to the Finals.

In this set ratio battle, it is projected that Creamline will automatically advance to the Finals regardless of how many set wins as long as it is within three to four sets.

Notably, this is the only scenario that Petro Gazz loses its advantage — a very slim chance that the Angels won't advance to the Finals at all.

If Akari and Choco Mucho prevail over their Thursday opponents, the Chargers are through to the Finals alongside Petro Gazz, as they would have clinched enough wins to advance at 2-1.

By then, Rebisco squads Creamline and Choco Mucho, at 1-2, will be battling for the third-place.
