Photo from PVL Media.MANILA — The Creamline Coolsmashers are shifting their focus to their next assignment quickly after their 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Finals loss.

The Sherwin Meneses-coached squad, who lost to the Petro Gazz Angels in Game 3 on Saturday, is not dwelling on their defeat and is instead setting their sights on their upcoming 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League later this month.

“Siyempre, about last night, kailangan maka-move on agad especially, may AVC tournament kami,” said the National University head coach on Sunday. “I think, yung mga players, naka-recover naman agad.”

The Cool Smashers were denied of both their fifth-straight All-Filipino crown and their fifth-straight PVL championship in general, but according to Meneses, his players did not have a hard time accepting this setback.

“Hindi siya ganun ka-painful talaga yung nangyari,” he shared. “Nakit ko naman na walang masyadong humagulgol ng iyak. So, I think, hindi masyadong masakit yung nangyari.”

Aside from this, Petro Gazz just really did a great job of figuring them out and taking them down.

“Deserve talaga ng Petro Gazz yung Championship kagabi. Mas gusto nilang manalo,” he said. “Syempre, yung mga players hindi naman sila umayaw, pero talagang yung breaks and yung game kagabi talagang sa Petro Gazz talaga. So, congratulations talaga sa Petro Gazz.”

“Hindi naman siya heartbreak, talagang natalo lang. Deserve talaga nung Petro Gazz,” Coach Sherwin added.

Creamline — reinforced by Erica Staunton, and much like Petro Gazz and the PLDT High Speed Hitters — will be competing in the tournament which will be held from April 20 to 27 at the PhilSports Arena.

The Cool Smashers will be facing Kazakhstan and Jordan in the Group Stage.

“Siyempre, mga competitive kasi mga players, so at the end of the day, siguro nag-iisip din yan,” commented Meneses. “Pero, I think, makaka-recover naman mabilis yung team. Bawi na lang sa ibang conferences at sa AVC. Laging competitive naman yung Creamline.”
