This was the third straight game of the España-based hitters, and it allowed them to improve to 8-4 in the team standings as the elimination round nears its end.
“Yung respeto sa team ng UE nandoon naman kaya pinaghandaan talaga namin,” said UST head coach Kungfu Reyes. “Pero ang maganda rito, nabigyan namin ng exposure yung ibang players namin, at nakapag deliver naman.”
“Hopefully, magamit nila itong game na ito para sa next games namin,” he added.
It was Angge Poyos and Reg Jurado who lifted the Golden Tigresses, with the duo putting up 12 points, five digs, and three receptions, and 10 points, 10 digs, and a reception, respectively.
Aside from the two, however, Kyla Cordora, Marga Altea, Em Banagua, and Detdet Pepito also stood out in their victory.
Cordora scattered eight points, seven digs, and six receptions, both Altea and Banagua scored seven markers, while Pepito had a 10-dig, five-reception game for UST.
UST showed complete dominance over UE, outscoring them in attack points (46-19), blocks (6-4), and aces (4-2).
On the other hand, this was the 13th straight loss of the Lady Warriors in as many appearances.
No Lady Warrior finished in double digits, as Van Bangayan, Khy Cepada, and Kaycee Balingit led them in scoring with six, four, and four, respectively.
