MANILA, Philippines – Choco Mucho captain Sisi Rondina and her team finally celebrated their first win since the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Quarterfinals.

After going 0-3 in the semifinals, they failed to close out Game 1 of the Battle for Bronze into their favor despite leading by two sets to nothing.

But this time, the Flying Titans, through her leadership, have finally regained their winning ways.

Rondina revealed Thursday after a 25-18, 25-22, 27-29, 25-19 triumph over Akari that she has put extra effort in looking deeper to what she could still bring to the table.

The 5-foot-6 high-flyer said that she was talking to the team statistician, whom she didn't name, on how to improve her game further even during late night until early morning.

"Lagi ko kasi kausap ‘yung statistician namin, like, kahit madaling araw, kinakausap ko siya kung ano naging weakness ko, kung ano ‘yung kaya ko pang gawin na nakikita niya," Rondina said.

The proud product of the University of Santo Tomas said that their statistician is giving her options on how to counter rivals on the taraflex.

"Sobrang laking tulong niya sa 'kin kasi bukod sa bantay sarado ako, binibigyan niya ako ng options," Rondina added.

She didn't forget to give credit to their head coach, Dante Alinsunurin, as they enjoyed their first triumph since the quarterfinals.

They also took their recovery seriously, Rondina said.

"Lagi ko siyang [statistician] kausap and sobrang grateful ako na nasa team namin siya and kay coach Dante. Pinaganda din talaga namin ‘yung recover ng katawan namin sa haba ng liga na ito, grabe nakakapagod. Iisa rin naman gusto ng mga teams ngayon ay maka-podium this liga."

Choco Mucho now has the upper hand in the battle for bronze against the Chargers after winning in four sets. In contrast, Akari won in five sets in Game 1.

A win by Petro Gazz last night could have given them the podium finish right away, but sister team Creamline decided to push their series to the limit.

That's why Choco Mucho is also playing Akari once more on Saturday for the right to be called bronze medalists.
