MANILA, Philippines – Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses explained Thursday why captain Alyssa Valdez saw limited action for the Cool Smashers in Game 2 of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Finals.

Valdez only played one set and scored only one point.

Meneses said, "this situation," referring to Game 2, "was for Bernadeth Pons and Jema Galanza."

"Hindi mo naman masasabi sa Creamline kung sino 'yung maglalaro eh. Talagang 'yung time, 'yung situation ngayon, para kay Pons at para kay Jema," he said.

Pons and Galanza were the top two scorers for Creamline this game, with 22 and 13 points, respectively.

Moreover, the grand slam-winning mentor stressed that Valdez could see action "anytime," and there's a possibility she could play in the do-or-die game.

"Pero anytime naman, pwede ipasok si Ly. Maybe next game. Let’s see kung sinong maglalaro para sa championship sa Game 3."
