MANILA, Philippines – Chery Tiggo was the first team to enter the win column of the Premier Volleyball League's inaugural play-in tournament.

The Crossovers swept Nxled, 25-22, 26-24, 25-12, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

This triumph, also in the first in Pool B, puts the Crossovers closer to a quarterfinal berth.

The Norman Miguel-coached squad first had to overcome a 17-20 deficit early in the match installed by the Chameleons, as Cess Robles, Shaya Adorador, Daps Dapol, and a couple of errors from the green jerseys gave the Crossovers a two-point cushion at 23-21.

Nxled spiker EJ Laure was able to answer back with a hit of her own, 23-22, but that turned out to be their last point of the frame as Robles dealt the finishing blow, firing back-to-back spikes to conclude an 8-2 run and close out the 34-minute chapter for a 1-0 Chery Tiggo lead.

The Chameleons tried to fight back in the next, forcing an extended period off a Chiara Permentilla kill, 24-24, but Adorador found the clutch kills to extend Chery Tiggo's dominance in the match, 2-0.

Ettore Guidetti's wards seemingly lost steam in the final canto as the Crossovers unleashed seven unanswered points from the 14-10 count and never looked back.

Three Crossovers took charge this time around: Robles, Galang, and Adorador. They were all in twin-digit scoring with 15 points each for Robles and Galang, while Adorador chipped in 14 markers and listed 11 excellent digs.

Robles also delivered in the defensive side of things, registering nine excellent receptions and seven excellent digs, while Alina Bicar was pulling the strings on the taraflex with 12 excellent sets.

Laure, for her side, had a team-high 15 points on 13 attacks and two service aces.

Chery Tiggo's next play-in match is on Tuesday, March 11 against Farm Fresh, while Nxled's succeeding assignment will also be the Foxies on Thursday, Mar. 13.
