Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, Vange Alinsug, Lams Lamina, and Arah Panique were on the list of 33 invitees for a National team tryout as Alas looks to form a potent squad for its various competitions later this year.

Lamina, alongside Panique and Alinsug, is one of the players to receive an Alas invite of any kind for the first time, and she admitted that the development is a surprise even for her.

“Nagulat ako. ‘Di ko inexpect na magiging part ako ng wishlist,” said Lamina, who tossed 30 of National U’s 31 excellent sets in their four-set win vs. Far Eastern University on Sunday. “Pero siguro nakitaan nila ako ng potential.”

Solomon, on the other hand, is ecstatic for the opportunity to represent the country yet again.

“Very happy na nakabalik ako sa alas, at excited ako to gain experience pa,” said Solomon just after firing 30 points against the Lady Tamaraws.

NU, like De La Salle University, is among the schools to have multiple current players to be included in the list. For Solomon, this is a testament to the exposure that they have been getting and put into ever since even before their collegiate careers.

“Since high school, pinukpok na kami to compete sa mataas na liga,” she explained. "So macha-challenge pa kami ngayong nasa seniors na kami.”

Solomon is also glad to have her fellow Lady Bulldogs aside from Belen join her in the National team, but for the 6-foot-2 ace, this is a challenge that they must live up to.
