ANTIPOLO (UPDATED) – Petro Gazz shrugged off a Set 3 meltdown, regrouping in the fourth to complete a four-set conquest of rival Creamline, 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16 to open its 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Semifinals campaign with a win on Saturday at the Ynares Center Antipolo.

The Angels joined Akari with 1-0 win-loss stats this round, moving closer to a potential spot in the Finals.

"Before, in our previous match, we lost to Creamline. This same venue, this same uniform. So we are doing (everything) we need to do to win the game. Creamline is too strong," said Petro Gazz head coach Koji Tsuzurabara who took to consideration their loss to the Cool Smashers in the preliminary round.

As usual, Brooke Van Sickle showed the way with 26 points on 22 attacks, three aces, and one kill block while putting up six excellent digs. Jonah Sabete chipped in 19 points on 14 attacks and five kill blocks, while Myla Pablo had her moments, listing 11 markers.

Petro Gazz has a chance to go for a pivotal second win against Choco Mucho on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Cool Smashers are in a dire need of a win, as falling to a 0-2 record could be pivotal for their dreams of another All-Filipino title.

Alyssa Valdez was a bright spot for the defending champions, collecting a triple-double of 10 points, 10 excellent digs, and 10 excellent receptions.
