MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Petro Gazz is through to the semifinals of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, joining Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Akari.

The Angels overpowered Zus Coffee in Game 3, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, en route to a 2-1 triumph in the best-of-three quarterfinals on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

After building a 2-0 set lead with ease, they were challenged by a gutsy Thunderbelles side in the final chapter, but the Angels proved to be more composed compared to their younger rival.

Zus Coffee's Chinnie Arroyo suffered an unfortunate attack error to push the Angels to match point, 24-23, and Thea Gagate was blocked by veteran Myla Pablo to secure the straight-set victory.

Brooke Van Sickle, as always, was at the forefront of Petro Gazz offense, listing a game-high 24 points done mostly on attacks, while MJ Phillips was also in twin-digit scoring with 10 points.

Van Sickle, also the reigning All-Filipino Conference MVP, tipped her hat to the Zus Coffee squad.

"Zus is a fantastic team. I'm really excited to just, every conference that goes by, they're just getting better and better and it's really cool to see," Van Sickle said

Playmaker Chie Saet passed the ball well, tallying 20 excellent sets to earn Player of the Game honor, while Jonah Sabete, in her second game back, notched nine points and 11 excellent digs.

"Siyempre, happy kasi I'm back inside the court and given the chance again with coach Koji [Tsuzurabara], so I take the responsibility na binigay niya para sakin para mag-take up inside sa court and magbigay nang maayos, and mag-lead also sa mga teammates," said Saet.

Pablo also concluded the match with seven points and 11 excellent receptions.

Arroyo paced the losing team with 13 attack points, while Chai Troncoso and Gagate delivered 10 each.

Semis starts Saturday, March 29, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Van Sickle-led squad is set to face Creamline first. First serve is at 6:30 p.m.
