MANILA (UPDATED) — Adamson University swept University of the East to halt its four-game losing streak in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament.

The Lady Falcons kept the Lady Warriors winless after their 25-20, 25-11, 25-21 victory, Saturday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

It was a usual day at the office for Shaina Nitura, putting up 19 points, five digs, and a reception, while Mayang Nique and Barbie Jamili were just as admirable, finishing with 11 and nine markers, respectively.

"We really learned a lot sa mga nangyari nung time na yun," said Nitura during the postgame presser, sharing how their experiences in Round 1 factored in their sweep of UE.

"Grabe ka-crucial yung games namin na nanalo kami ng sets, pero ‘di talaga binibigay samin yung panalo. So, from there, dun kami nag-learn," she added.

Adamson U indeed showed signs of growth as when they were down 16-12 in the third, they responded with six straight points, four of which came from Nique and Jen Villegas, for an 18-16 lead.

Nitura then went on to deliver the finishing touches for the San Marcelino-based spikers in the end game, and this was enough for the Lady Falcons to improve to 3-5 in the team standings.

Aside from Nitura, Nique, and Jamili, Fhei Sagay stood out for the Lady Falcons as the rookie setter tossed 14 of their total 17 points, and this was on top of two points.

Another factor in AdU's win was their 40-28 advantage on attack points, and they also capitalized on the 19 errors of their Recto counterparts.

UE, for its part, leaned on KC Cepada's 10 points, Van Bangayan's nine, and Riza Nogales' eight, but these went for naught as the Lady Warriors remained winless in eight games.
