ANTIPOLO (UPDATED) – Since joining the league in 2017, Creamline has always entered the semifinal round. That tradition continued in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

The Cool Smashers fended off Chery Tiggo in Game 2, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22, completing a quarterfinal 2-0 sweep to advance to the next round on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

In Set 3, tied at one set wins each, Creamline managed to overcome a 16-19 deficit midway through, unleashing a 4-0 rally capped by a Bea de Leon ace to steal the driver's seat for good.

Sherwin Meneses' wards concluded that frame with a 4-1 blitz from the 21-all count, the last point being a sharp Michele Gumabao spike in the middle of the Crossover defense for a 2-1 lead.

Although they suffered some miscues late in Set 4, squandering what was once a seven-point 22-15 separation, the Cool Smashers ultimately got the job done as De Leon fired the game-clinching attack — her 14th point of the match.

The middle blocker finished the match with seven attacks, a whopping five blocks, and two aces — enough to earn her the Player of the Game nod.

"Actually, coming to the game, gusto ko lang talaga magawa yung role ko. I knew it’s gonna be a hard game, I wasn’t really scoring a lot, but really, really make sure na makatulong ako sa team, and ma-secure namin 'yung win," said De Leon during the postgame interview.

Former MVP Bernadeth Pons did much of the scoring load, listing 18 markers done mostly on spikes to go along with 15 excellent receptions, while another individual top plum recipient in Tots Carlos also delivered 14 points including 13 excellent digs.

"Una pa lang kanina ni-remind na kami ni coach na Chery [Tiggo], nothing to lose sila. Maglalaro talaga sila nang maganda so hindi kami pwedeng maging complacent," said Pons.

Seth Rodriguez, in a rare scoring outburst, paced the exiting side with 16 points. Cess Robles also tallied 14 points, while Ara Galang had 11 markers.
