The Akari Chargers. PVL Media BureauMANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Akari will proceed to the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Semifinals.

This, as the Chargers notched a 19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 15-12 comeback win in Game 2, Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

They scored a 2-0 sweep of the Highrisers in the best-of-three quarterfinals.

Down two sets to one, just like in the quarters opener, they made sure to return into the match and force a decider.

They came out strong early in Set 5, establishing a 9-4 lead, but the Highrisers still rallied their way back, uncorking five unanswered points to make it a tie game.

From the 11-all count, the Highrisers suffered an attack error, and Eli Soyud made it a two-point cushion after an off-the-block hit.

Galeries' Ysa Jimenez still scored one with an attack of her own, but Faith Nisperos of the Chargers made sure to close it out in their favor with a kill, concluding the match that lasted for two hours and 30 minutes.

"We always want to contribute and stay ready. What I like about our team is kahit sinong ipasok mo, they know their role and kailangan lang namin i-mindset as players is to stay ready and that’s what we do all the time," said Nisperos after the match.

Soyud took charge, listing 20 points on 18 attacks, one block and a service ace, while Nisperos collected 15 points, done mostly on attacks, including 13 excellent digs.

Libero Justine Jazareno did her part on defense, tallying 16 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions.

Meanwhile, young gun Jewel Encarnacion had a game-high 21 points and 17 excellent receptions for the exiting side, while France Ronquillo added 16 points.

Roselle Baliton was also in twin-digit territory with 14 points, while Jimenez totaled 10.
