MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Cignal cruised past struggling Capital1, 25-12, 25-15, 25-17, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

It was a bounce back win for the HD Spikers, shaking off a shock loss the last time around, where they lost in comeback fashion against Creamline.

The Shaq delos Santos-mentored squad clinched its sixth win in nine games, while the Solar Spikers absorbed their fifth straight defeat.

The duo of Ishie Lalongisip and Judith Abil took centerstage, delivering 13 points each as the unsung Cignal heroes continued to step up after break up with key players Ces Molina and Riri Meneses

"Mag-score lang po [ang motivation]. 'Yun din kasi kulang nu'ng last game din po, na puro na lang open [hitter] 'yung nag-i-score. 'Yung dito sa utility hindi nakaka-score — 'yun din 'yung sabi ni coach na tulong-tulong din sa team 'pag laro," Abil said.

"Ine-embrace ko lang po 'yung role na binigay sa akin ni coach Shaq. Parang siguro 'yung pressure, laging nandiyan — ine-entertain ko lang siya as positive," Lalongisip said.

The HD Spikers also won overwhelmingly in the attacking aspect, notching 44 on 139 attempts, while the Capital1 side only scored 24 off spikes on 158 total attempts.

Meanwhile, no Solar Spiker breached twin-digit scoring, with Leila Cruz and Trisha Geneses both registering six points each.

Cignal continues its quest for a better placement against Zus Coffee exactly a week from now, while Capital1 seeks the end of the tunnel, although they are set to face current top two Petro Gazz.
