The Lady Falcons swept the University of the East on Wednesday to improve to 2-1, and heading the charge for the JP Yude-coached squad were Shai Nitura and Mayang Nique.

“I really thank the Lord na may ganito akong players,” Yude said after the game. “Yung talents nila, yun yung nagco-combine para i-angat nila yung Adamson.”

Nitura put up 18 points while Nique chipped in nine, but for Yude, it was the leadership of their duo that needs to be hailed the most.

“Yung leadership niya, yun yung once na mas ma-build sa kanya, mag grow siya on how to handle things inside and outside the court, doon siya magiging dominant,” said Yude of Nitura.

“Sa paglalaro naman, kaya niyang gawin kahit saan eh. So kailangan niya maging right leader para sa teammates niya, and to handle the pressure with the expectations na meron sa kanya,” he continued.

Nique vouched for how the 20-year-old rookie is leading them immediately, and added how their styles complement each other.

“Hind naman po ako sobrang vocal talaga, more on si Shaina po yung nagiging vocal sa team namin,” Nique bared. “Pero ang role ko po is magpa-neutralize or magpa-positive ng team.”

“Pag may sinsabi si Shaina na instructions, ako po yung nagpapakalma. Sa dynamic naman na po na yun, mas nagiging okay po yung team,” she continued.

For Nitura, what Adamson needs to sustain this is to get more runs, one thing that they will definitely earn as the season progresses.

“Over time, sa past three games, medyo naglo-loosen up na po ako,” she said. “Nung unang games, medyo stiff ako, so more experiences pa siguro.”
