MANILA (UPDATED) — Adamson University made quick work of the University of the East to return to the win column of the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball.

The Lady Falcons swept the Lady Warriors, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12, during their Wednesday afternoon matchup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Shaina Nitura led AdU with 18 points which was built from 16 attacks, a block, and an ace, while also tallying 11 digs and two receptions, and helping her were Frances Mordi and Mayang Nique who put up 11 and 9, respectively.

Adamson U improved to 2-1 after this bout, and this came days after they were dumped by De La Salle University last February 22 in three sets.

"We have to, madaan yung mga ganung talo," said Nitura during the postgame presser.

Nitura continued.

Nique, for her part, said she is comfortable playing at the wings after serving as the Lady Falcons' middle blocker in the recent seasons.

It was a lopsided match aside from the opening frame, and this is reflected by the advantage of Adamson U in attack points, 41-27. The Lady Warriors also tallied six more errors than their counterparts, 20-14, to add to their woes.

On the other hand, UE, which remained winless with its 0-3 record, was paced by Van Bangayan and KC Cepada who delivered 11 and 10, respectively.

Contributing to the Lady Warriors' loss, one that saw them trail by 13 in the last frame, was their abysmal showing in the playmaking department as they only had five excellent sets.

All of these came from Mary Ecalla who had 87 attempts.
