Photo from UAAP Media.MANILA — Josh Ybañez had to prematurely exit the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball face-off due to an apparent right ankle injury.

The two-time league Most Valuable Player had to be carried off the taraflex after he landed his right foot on his teammate Trevor Valera’s at the 22-18 mark of the fourth set.

The Golden Spikers eventually lost the game in that same frame, 25-20, 22-25, 16-25, 20-25.

Ybañez needed a wheelchair to be mobilized, and UST head coach Odjie Mamon shared after the contest that the Season 85 Rookie of the Year would be sent to an undisclosed hospital to get the proper treatment.

Before exiting the game, Ybañez already had 15 points, all of which came from attacks.

Ybañez’s status for UST’s next game is yet to be determined. The Golden Spikers will return to action on Saturday, February 22, against the University of the East at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
