MANILA, Philippines – Akari captured its fifth win in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday.

The Chargers, who won their last outing against sister team Nxled, triumphed once more after repelling Capital1, 25-9, 25-17, 26-24, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

They improved to 5-4, while the Solar Spikers remained luckless, only winning one contest after eight matches.

The Taka Minowa-mentored squad made quick work of the first two chapters, finishing those in 21 and 27 minutes, respectively.

Capital1 eventually found its groove in Set 3, and was actually on pace to take the frame at 24-22.

But Lacsina refused to back down, firing a sharp spike to inch closer into one, as the opposing side was called for a reaching beyond violation after a successful challenge by the Akari coaching staff to make it a tie ballgame at 24-all.

Middle blocker Fifi Sharma then scored a kill block off Trisha Genesis' attempt, and Faith Nisperos dealt the finishing blow to put a period to the 1-hour, 38-minute affair.

Lacsina was at the forefront of the Chargers offense, listing 15 attack points to go with four excellent receptions; Eli Soyud dropped 12 points, while Faith Nisperos chipped in eight.

The winning side won the blocking department with six—three of those came from Soyud, while Capital1 only had one.

Far Eastern University product Ced Domingo also entered the game in Set 1, marking her return to the PVL taraflex, but was barely used as she exited the match and did not come back.

Before this, Domingo last played in the 2024 Reinforced Conference semifinals.

Akari has a chance to clinch its sixth win exactly a week from now against Choco Mucho, while Capital1 takes on Cignal on Thursday. Both games are at the Pasig venue.
