MANILA, Philippines – PLDT's Kim Kianna Dy could not hold back tears as she reflected on what has been a "hard year."

Dy has been undergoing recovery for over a year now since suffering a knee injury when she was still with the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

It has been 559 days since she last played in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL)--and when she realized it, Dy turned emotional.

"Biggest change, I guess as a player, I've been more patient with myself because they journey of me being here right now wasn't really easy. It's been a hard year," said Dy on Tuesday.

PLDT celebrated Dy's comeback with a 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 triumph over sister team Cignal at the PhilSports Arena.

Dy, who has been trying to reach her peak form, did not forget to thank her teammates and coaches, who have been helpful during her recuperating period.

"I'm still trying to get to my 100 percent and I'm slowly getting there. It hasn't been easy, but thankfully with my teammates and my coaches, they make it easier for me kahit hirap na hirap na ako," she said.

She was already injured when she joined PLDT with fellow La Salle Lady Spikers Majoy Baron and Kim Fajardo.

"Yeah, I mean may familiar faces pa rin. Para siyang naging mini-reunion plus Savi and Kath. Super happy in choosing PLDT also, with the La Salle people. It's been an easy transition for us in PLDT, so, really happy for that."

Meanwhile, coach Rald Ricafort revealed that Dy's comeback tonight wasn't actually planned.

Dy's return to PVL action came as PLDT seeks a secondary offensive option for their star spiker, Fil-Canadian Savi Davison.
