MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Akari captain Michelle Cobb was stretchered off the court after an apparent neck injury during their game against sister team Nxled in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The incident happened during the 5-3 mark of Set 2, when Cobb rolled over trying to save the ball, hurting her neck in the process.

A neck brace was quickly put unto her by the medic team as she was carried off the taraflex.

Cobb was checked immediately in the dugout and was brought to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City for observation.

Coach Taka Minowa affirmed this during the postgame press conference, sharing that Cobb "feels something."

"She [was brought] to the hospital. She feels something. We're not sure if it was a serious injury or not. But so far, she just went to the hospital and now checking up po," the Akari mentor said.

Thankfully, the Chargers emerged with the win against their sister team in a four-set marathon, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18.

In a report by sports producer Sam Corrales to the TV panel during the game, she said that Cobb "is responsive" and is "not feeling any pain in the neck."

Cobb also "does not feel dizzy," but her "forehead is just numb, but she can definitely grip with her hand," Corrales added.
