MANILA, Philippines – PLDT middle blocker Majoy Baron claimed she — and the team — hold no grudge from their dramatic semifinal loss against Akari last year.

In their first encounter since that controversial match which saw Akari advance to the Reinforced Conference Finals, Baron and the High Speed Hitters got their revenge, defeating the Chargers in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15, on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.

Baron asserted there is no score to settle. Instead, they're just focused on their current campaign in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

"Hindi ko naman dinadala kung ano ‘yung nangyari last year kasi iba naman ‘yung composition ng team ngayon," said Baron.

"We’re just focused nga du’n sa task and we treat each game na same lang and level lang ‘yung emotions kasi gusto namin talaga na focused lang kami and magagawa namin ‘yung job namin sa loob ng court."

Coach Rald Ricafort bared that in case there are "extra motivations" this ballgame, the team was told to concentrate on the task at hand: winning the game.

"Basta naging advice sa amin, tinanong kami kanina kung ano ang feeling ng players eh kung may dagdag motivation o wala. Ang ni-remind lang sa kanila kung ano man yung extra na yun i-make sure lang na yung focus hindi mawawala," he said.

Regardless of the rivalry, the High Speed Hitters have started on the right note as they clinched their fourth win in six games.

Currently at the fourth spot, the Ricafort-coached squad seek to end a playoffs drought.
