PVL MediaSavouge celebrates its victory against EcoOil La Salle in the 2024 Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference, November 29, 2024 at the Ynares Sports Arena. PVL MediaMANILA -- Savouge snatched the fourth and last ticket to the 2024 Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference semifinals with an impressive sweep of EcoOil La Salle on Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The Spin Doctors showcased their firepower and poise in a 25-23, 29-27, 25-18 victory against the Green Oilers to improve to 6-2 in the tournament.

They joined Cignal HD, Criss Cross, and DN Steel-Far Eastern University in the Final 4, regardless of the outcome of their final elimination round game against the King Crunchers.

They also ousted the Green Oilers (4-4) and Navy (4-3) from contention.

"Before kami maglaro, sabi ko lang ayaw ko kayo ma-pressure, kung ano lang yung tinraining natin for this week, execute lang natin and I think 'yun 'yung naging edge namin today kung bakit nanalo kami," said Savogue head coach Sydney Calderon.

Sherwin Caritativo led the charge for Savouge with 16 points, including 14 kills.

"It's a do-or-die game for us. So hindi talaga kami nagpahinga. After we beat D'Navigators, dire-diretso na kami sa training. Walang pahinga talaga. Ang sab inga namin, kung gusto nyo nang umuwi, 'go na' …kung hindi tuloy tayo sa semis," said Caritativo.

Hero Austria scored the clinching point on a combination play to end the match after La Salle saved one match point. The Green Oilers challenged the final point, questioning whether the ball was in or out. However, video replay confirmed the ball had hit the baseline, officially sending Savouge to the semis.

While they won the third set in comfortable fashion, the Spin Doctors had to eke out victories in the first two frames.

They trailed 20-22 in the first set before winning five of the next six rallies, anchored by the clutch hits of Caritativo, Charlee Magpayo and Austria. They then traded points against La Salle in the second set, with Caritativo again coming up with the clutch hit to turn back the Green Oilers.

Setter Michael Imperial was instrumental, dishing out 18 excellent sets, while Austria, Magpayo, and De Pedro contributed nine points each.

For the Green Oilers, Joshua Magalaman and Noel Kampton scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. However, their fourth consecutive loss after a strong 4-0 start dashed their semifinal hopes.

In an earlier match, Navy's hopes of making the Final 4 had taken a big hit after they were routed by Cignal HD, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

It was the seventh straight triumph for the HD Spikers, who improved to 8-1.
