MANILA (UPDATED) -- The Philippine women's national football team completed a two-match sweep of the United Arab Emirates in their friendlies at the UAE Football Association Headquarters, early Wednesday morning (Manila time).

The Filipinas shut out the hosts, 4-0, for a strong finish to their camp.

Unlike last Saturday's game where the Filipinas struck early, this time around they were initially kept in check by UAE. It wasn't until the 37th minute that Sara Eggesvik found the breakthrough for the Filipinas and put them ahead.

The floodgates opened for the Philippines in the second half, with Carleigh Frilles (54'), skipper Hali Long (62'), and Chandler McDaniel (74') all finding the back of the net.

For Long, the goal increased her tally for the Philippines to 20. McDaniel, meanwhile, scored three goals in two games against UAE, having grabbed a brace in Saturday's win.

"They sat in a different formation, so we had to be a little more patient on the ball," said Katrina Guillou, who earned Player of the Match honors. "We got a little frustrated -- me, individually,  included -- in the first half, but we just kept wearing them down and kept the ball moving."

"We definitely picked our moments of opportunity towards the end of the first half and definitely in the second half moving forward," she added. "Just perseverance from the team, good service, and good finishes."

Olivia McDaniel also kept a clean sheet this time around, after having given up a late goal to UAE's Juma Naeema in their first meeting.

The pair of friendlies highlighted the Filipina's camp, which is part of their preparation for a series of tournaments later in the year including the MSIG Serenity Cup, the Asian Cup qualifiers, and the Southeast Asian Games.

Head coach Mark Torcaso was pleased to see a variety of players scoring goals, and expressed his hope that their experience against a defensive-minded UAE team will serve them well in their future matches.

"Playing UAE now is extremely good, because we're going to come up against Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia [in the Asian Cup qualifiers]," he said.

"They're going to do the same thing in the qualifiers, so we wanted to be prepared for that," he added. "We stayed disciplined, we stayed patient. The girls were very good in possession, and we scored some really good goals."

"It's about building towards the Asian Cup qualifiers, and we're really looking forward to that."

The Filipinas will next come together for the May 26 to June 3 international window, where they are expected to play two matches on home soil.
