MANILA -- From one world-class Filipino athlete to another.

Pole vault star EJ Obiena was full of pride and admiration as he congratulated tennis ace Alex Eala for her recent career milestones.

Eala has reached another career-high in the WTA rankings, with the 19-year-old now at No. 73 following her sensational run in the 2025 Miami Open.

Obiena, currently training in the Philippines ahead of a busy outdoor season, took a moment to send a heartfelt message to the rising tennis star.

"Hey Alex, I just want to congratulate you for breaking into the Top 100," Obiena said. "Welcome to the world of tennis finally! I knew you got it. It was just a matter of time. I just want to say congratulations."

The Olympic athlete emphasized how Eala's achievement has been an inspiration to himself and many.

"You definitely made me proud to be a Filipino — and I'm sure the whole country as well."

Obiena also shared that he hopes to catch one of Eala's matches live someday, possibly in Europe, where he competes and trains for most of the year.

His final message for the tennis prodigy was simple yet heartfelt: "Stay safe, stay injury-free, and keep going."
