MANILA -- Makati FC is off to a triumphant start in the 2025 PFF Women's League, overpowering the University of the Philippines 5-0 at the Mall of Asia Football Pitch last Thursday.

Angely Alferez and Sheva Furyzcha each grabbed a brace, while Rhiauna de la Calzada set the tone by finding the back of the net in just the second minute.

"'Yung team namin is ngayon lang nagkasabay maglaro," said Alferez, who earned Player of the Match honors. "Kinakapa pa po namin 'yung play ng bawat isa."

"I think masaya naman 'yung coaches so masaya na rin kami. Very proud po ako sa kasama ko, kasi at least sa short na time, nagkaintindihan kami," she added.

Alferez made it 2-0 for Makati inside 30 minutes to send her team into the break with a comfortable lead. They turned on the jets in the second half, with Furyzcha scoring two quick-fire goals in the 47th and 50th to stun the UP defense.

A stoppage time goal by Alferez put the finishing touches on the rout and sent the Fighting Maroons to their second straight loss.

"Kailangan namin mag-ready, [and gain] more chemistry," said Alferez. "Mag-focus muna kami sa isang game, one step at a time."

Makati FC's next assignment is another collegiate squad, as they take on UAAP Season 87 bronze medalists University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, April 6. UP is also in action on Sunday against the Capital1 Solar Strikers, with both teams eyeing breakthrough victories.
