MANILA -- De La Salle University swept its final two matches to secure the top spot in the elimination round of the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Blitz Chess Championships, Wednesday at the Adamson Gym.
The Lady Woodpushers amassed 10 match points, recording five wins against one loss, finishing one point ahead of second-seeded Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, who tallied nine match points.

In Round 6, La Salle blanked Adamson University with a dominant 4-0 victory before closing out the elimination stage with a narrow 2.5-1.5 triumph over archrival Ateneo de Manila University.
