EL NIDO, Palawan -- After three days of intense competition, a pair of veterans were crowned as champions in the opening leg of the 2025 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series here.

Rhiannan Iffland of Australia and Gary Hunt of France took their place at the top of the women's and men's podium, respectively, after a strong finish on Sunday at the Big Lagoon.

For Iffland, it was the continuation of a dominant run that has seen her win the past eight cliff diving world championships.

Ten-time champion Hunt, who is competing as a wild card this year, showed he is far from done with two near-flawless dives in rounds 3 and 4 to overtake Romania's Constantin Popovici for the top spot. 

he competition will now take a two-month break before heading for Polignano A Mare in Italy on June 28 to 29 for the second leg.
