MANILA -- Kaya FC-Iloilo and Stallion Laguna FC immediately sent notice of their title aspirations in the opening weekend of the 2025 PFF Women's League at the Mall of Asia Football pitch.

Mexican striker Julissa Cisneros, who went to work early against the collegiate squad by scoring in the eighth minute. 

"Given that they're a university team, I expected a lot of athleticism, which is what we got," Cisneros said. 

Two minutes later, national team skipper Hali Long added to the tally, and the rout was on. Still, Cisneros paid tribute to the effort UST brought to the pitch.

"They didn't let down even for a second," Cisneros said, who added to her tally in the 47th and 68th minutes. "Even though the score doesn't necessarily reflect that, I think that they tried the whole 90 minutes plus. I think that it's going to continue to be a good competition."

Julia Humphreys added goals in the 40th and 79th minutes, Janly Fontanillas scored in the 43rd, and former Women's Cup MVP Dionesa Tolentin also found the back of the net in the 64th. 

Stallion, meanwhile, blanked University of the Philippines, 2-0, to also jump at the top of the six-team table and share the lead with Kaya at three points each.

Midfielder Siera Cadstles got going eight minutes into the match while Kala McDaniel doubled the lead before halftime.

The Stallion defense held on from there, with right fullback Rhea Chan leading the way. 

"I think we came out strong," Chan said. "They gave us a bit of a hard time, especially on the defensive end. I think we tried to break them down a little bit and they did a great job [taking the game] to us and making it difficult for us overall.

The league continues next Saturday also at MOA pitch with Kaya taking on the debuting Capital1 Solar Strikers at 7 p.m.
