MANILA — Reigning ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua "The Passion" Pacio and former two-time ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion Eduard "Landslide" Folayang have been inseparable lately, with both fighters facing their respective rivals to start 2025.

With that in mind, Pacio can't hide his confidence in this version of Folayang.

Folayang battles an old foe for one last time when he faces Shinya Aoki at ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang this Sunday, March 23, at Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The Filipino has one last chance to tie the series against his rival before the Japanese fighter ultimately retires.

For Pacio, Folayang's preparation for this match is impressive, and he believes it will translate to a victory this weekend.

"I strongly believe he's ready for this," Pacio said.

"I've seen him prepared, I've seen him work hard. He's ready 100 percent, physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, and through God's grace we will get the win."

After having Folayang in his corner for his own rivalry at ONE 171: Qatar against Jarred Brooks, the roles are now reversed as Pacio calls the shots for his senior in this fight against Aoki.

While he's more used to fighting than cornering, Pacio insists that it's an honor to be on the other side of the fence this time.

"It's definitely a different experience this time," Pacio said.

"Kuya Eduard has always been the one cornering me in all of those competitions," Pacio said, "and now the roles are reversed and I'm excited that I will be the one to corner him in this rivalry match against Aoki."

The transition won't be difficult, noting how despite being the founder of the gym, the Filipino MMA icon is someone who listens, not just used to giving instructions to his younger teammates.

"Kuya Eduard is a leader not just for me but for the rest of our teammates. He's not a boss. He's a leader," Pacio said.

"That's why it's easy and it's an honor to be in his corner this time. He's gonna get that win."
