Boxing greats were honored at the annual Pacquiao-Elorde Awards Night in Okada Manila on Thursday, March 20.
On its second year, the awards night gathered the Filipino boxing community to celebrate major feats in both the national and international scene.
“It is a night where we honor champions inside the ring and those who have fought battles beyond it. The trainers, coaches, promoters, and everyone who has dedicated their life to this sport,” 8-division World Champion Manny Pacquiao said.
“A true champion is measured by the impact they leave behind,” he said.
WBC World Minimumweight Champion Melvin Jerusalem and IBF World Minimumweight Champion Pedro Taduran were recognized as Boxers of the Year.
Also honored were boxing legends, including Former WBC Lightweight and Jr. Lightweight titlist Rene Barrientos, Former WBC super featherweight champion Rolando Navarrete, Former WBA Bantamweight and WBC featherweight champion Luis Espinosa and Ronnie Magramo.
The two Boxers of the year will be having their next matches in Japan, with Jerusalem defending his title on March 30. Meanwhile, Taduran will have his title defense in May.

Outside of boxing, gymnast Carlos Yulo was given the “Outstanding Sports Hero Award” after winning two golds in the 2024 Olympics.
Yulo noted that he was 9 years old when he saw Pacquiao in person for the first time at a championship parade.
“Pero ngayon na in-person po talaga na nakamayan ko— sobrang saya. Nafulfill po ‘yung as a kid ako, lagi nanonood sa mga laban niya,” Yulo said.
“Sobrang nakaka-motivate po makita siya in person,” he added.
International and regional champions were also honored at the event, together with awardees in managerial, promotional, and other positions contributing to the continuous development of boxing.
