MANILA, Philippines – Sofia Harrison, now Mrs. Wunsch, is relishing her new chapter in her life.

A seasoned member of the national team who played at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, Sofia tied the knot with her seven-year boyfriend Collin Wunsch last year.

For the 26-year-old defender, getting married to her best friend and husband "has been great," especially he has been "supportive of me playing with the national team."

"As some of you know, my last name is Wunsch. It means wish in German. Married life has been great. He is my biggest supporter. He's so supportive of me playing with the national team. I couldn't be more grateful to have him as my husband and my best friend," Wunsch shared to reporters.

She got married to a former football player — which, according to Sofia, has been a "good combo."

"He was a football player, yes. So, when I'm training at home, sometimes he will coach me and we'll work together. So, it's a good combo."

As the Filipinas gear up for a busy year, Wunsch is "motivated" for the challenge to prove that she deserves a spot on the national squad.

"It definitely motivates me. I never really see my spot as guaranteed. I'm always looking to have that challenge to compete with someone who wants to take my spot from me," she said. "I see every day as an opportunity to be better than I was the day before."

Wunsh, who previously played for the Stallion Laguna FC, also revealed that she's currently a free agent.

The women's national football team, which just concluded a nine-day training camp, was the first to play at the newly inaugurated Mall of Asia (MOA) Football Pitch in Pasay City.
