MANILA -- Filipino athletes in track and field are looking to surpass their performance in 2023 while boxers are keeping expectations modest as they enter the final stretch of preparations for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games. According to the secretary-general of the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), they will send some 60 athletes to Thailand next month for the biennial competition -- including two-time Olympian EJ Obiena.&quot;He [Obiena] is preparing for it,&quot; Jasper Tanhueco said Monday. Their athletes are currently holding a training camp in New Clark City to ramp up their preparations for the SEA Games, where they hope to surpass their 22-medal haul from Cambodia in 2023.&quot;Well, of course our goal is to surpass &#x27;yung previous,&quot; said Tanhueco. &quot;Definitely, that&#x27;s the goal.
