MANILA -- Chloe San Jose beamed with pride on Monday night after her boyfriend, Filipino Olympian Carlos Yulo, was hailed as the 2024 Athlete of the Year by the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA).

San Jose and Cynthia Carrion, the president of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), later joined Yulo on stage after he received his trophy from the organization.

"I'm just really thankful as always to God and everyone who surrounded him [Carlos] with so much love and support— kay Ma'am Cynthia, Coach Aldrin [Castañeda] po who were always there by his side throughout everything that happened," San Jose said.

San Jose, who was by Yulo's side in Paris when he won his two Olympic gold medals, said they are now working on the athlete's motivation as he moves forward with his career.
