Handout/PFF"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The Philippine national women&#x27;s futsal team. <em>Handout/PFF</em></span></span></span></div><p>The Philippines took a step towards sealing their place in the 2025 AFC Women&#x27;s Futsal Asian Cup after beating Turkmenistan, 2-0, on Wednesday at the Yunusobod Sport Complex in Tashkent.</p><p>The result gave the Filipinas seven points in three games in Group C, with two wins and one draw.</p><p>After both sides battled to a stalemate in the opening half, Katrina Guillou found the breakthrough goal in the 23rd minute to put the Philippines in control.</p><p>Inday Tolentin then sealed all three points in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a poor pass from Turkmenistan to beat Maya Musaskaya to the goal.</p><p>The Philippines will conclude the group phase against Australia on Sunday.</p><p>They had opened their campaign by overpowering Kuwait, 4-1, then stunned hosts Uzbekistan with a late goal last Monday to salvage a 2-2 draw.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/1/11/filipinas-open-women-s-futsal-asian-cup-qualifiers-by-beating-kuwait-2336">READ: Filipinas open Women&#x27;s Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers by beating Kuwait</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/1/11/filipinas-open-women-s-futsal-asian-cup-qualifiers-by-beating-kuwait-2336">READ: Late Connolly goal gives PH a point vs. Uzbekistan</a></div><p>The Filipinas&#x27; participation in the qualifiers is part of the team&#x27;s preparations for the FIFA Futsal Women&#x27;s World Cup, which the Philippines will host later this year. </p><p>A total of 18 teams -- divided into four groups -- are taking part in the qualifiers. The top two teams in each group, as well as the best third-placed teams, will advance to the 2025 AFC Women&#x27;s Futsal Asian Cup scheduled for May 7-18 in China.</p>
