MANILA (UPDATED) – Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial on Saturday denied the allegations of his wife Princess regarding their marriage.

"Hindi totoo lahat ng mga sinasabi niya sa akin," the boxer said in an interview with media in Zamboanga.

"Dahil unang-una, kung sinasaktan ko siya, bakit siya magkakaroon ng pasa na ganung pasa lang? Bakit magkakaroon siya ng pasa sa paa? Dahil siya yung nagsasaktan sa akin. Pinoprotektahan ko sarili ko na huwag na ako saktan at natatamaan ko siya dahil sa pagprotekta ko sa aking sarili. At nagkakaroon siya ng pasa," Marcial added.

Eumir Marcial to address wife's allegations in 'proper forum,' says lawyer

In a lengthy social media post, Princess revealed Marcial's alleged infidelity and abuse.

The Olympic boxer meanwhile claimed his wife was fabricating a story following issues in their relationship.

"Do you think na dahil sa pananakit ko sa kanya na gusto niya pa rin sa akin mag-stay? Ginagawa niya ito sa akin ngayon dahil ayaw ko nang makisama sa kanya dahil sa ugali niya," he said.

Marcial addressed his wife's claim of having an affair with a woman from his hometown last October 2024.

"Yung sa likod ng picture na yun, hindi talaga picture yun, video yun eh. Video yun na sinasaktan nila yung babae, dalawa sila ng kapatid niya, na pilit kong pinroprotektahan. Walang nangyayari na bakit walang nangyayari na pagtataksil?," he said.

"Yung babae na nakita niyo sa video, kaibigan ko yun, ah sa picture, kaibigan ko yun na isang beses pinuntahan ko, kasi taga-Zamboanga siya eh. Nagkita kami sa Makati coincidence na nagkita kami. Taga-Zamboanga pala, nagkakilala nagusap and then nagsama. Actually nung nagsama kami, may kasama siyang kaibigan nung nagsama, may kasama din ako," Marcial added.

'SOBRA NA 'YUNG NANGYAYARI'

Princess claimed she and her sister caught Marcial and the woman in a condominium in Pasay and had them arrested at a police station.

"Pumunta ako doon para tulungan ko siya makuha yung wallet and ganun yung ginawa nila, sinaktan nila ngayon, binugbog nila yung babae… Ginawa nila lahat ng proseso. Dinala nila, tumawag ng pulis, dalhin sa police station at biglang finile ng concubinage. Which is hindi naman pasok sa concubinage," Marcial responded.

The national athlete said this was the period that he felt their relationship was strained.

"Talagang sabi ko ayaw ko. Hindi na talaga pwedeng magsama itong relasyon na ito dahil sobra na eh. Sobra na yung nangyayari sa amin," he said.

"So lalong kong naisip na yung asawa ko na hindi na kami okay dahil ni pagkain, ni damit di naman ako dinalan doon. Hindi ako inalala doon. So doon ko naramdaman na hindi na pagmamahal yung gusto niya lang sa akin," Marcial added.

The boxer lamented why his wife had to publicize the matter, which he said is "personal."

"Bakit pa kailangan i-media? Maayos ako nakipaghiwalay sa kanya, maayos po ako nagsabi sa kanya na i-settle natin ito. Kung ano yung property na meron ako sa Manila, hatiin namin, ayusin namin ito. Bakit ayaw niya? Bakit niya gusto, gusto dalhin pa dito sa media, gusto pa niya kumuha ng simpatya sa taong bayan na ganito niloko siya, sinaktan siya, gumawa pa ng story?" Marcial explained.

PRINCESS NOT EUMIR'S MANAGER?

In another post on Saturday, Princess responded to the boxer's claims that she is not his brand manager and she has no credibility to discuss sports.

She said she was a previous member of the national boxing team, her father was a boxing promoter and international boxing referee, while her uncle was an Asian games gold medalist.

"I grew up in a household with strong boxing influences from my family even LONG BEFORE Eumir became a boxer. So, to tag me as someone who does not know anything about boxing, or sports in general, is simply an absurd attempt to discredit me," Princess said.

"Second of all, if I am not Eumir’s brand manager then how come the documents that we send to all the brands signifies me as your brand manager? If not me, then who is taking care of all your endorsements, social media branding, and public relations? Who closes the brand deals, reviews brand contracts, and manages all deliverables for all your brand collaborations and partnerships?" she added.

"Eumir’s capacity to lie is just fascinating to me. How he manages to fabricate all these lies to fit his narrative is simply mind-blowing. If he’s capable of lying about the small and little things, what more about the big things?" Princess further wrote.

In a separate social media post on Sunday, she slammed Marcial for asking for forgiveness from the alleged other woman and her family but not from her.

"Panindigan mo 'to hanggang dulo ang mga kasinunangalingan mo," she wrote.

Princess also thanked the people from Zamboanga who have been messaging her.

"Kung alam niyo lang yung tulong na ginagawa niyo saken. Hindi ko man ma-message kayo isa-isa… May mga mabubuting tao talaga na hindi kakampi sa kasamaan and may paninindigan sa tama!" she added.

In a document sent to ABS-CBN News by her legal counsel Atty. Alel Auxillos-Cayanan, it showed that Princess filed a complaint for violation of Republic Act No. 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004. 

The complaint was lodged before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Pasay City last Friday.

PROPER FORUM

Marcial, through his counsel Atty. Marlon Morada, said he wants the issues to be discussed privately.

“Following the recent social media posts of Mr. Eumir Marcial's wife, we advise Mr. Marcial to address or respond to the allegations against him in the proper forum,” Morada said.

“To date, our client has not yet received a formal complaint affidavit from his wife or the appropriate government agency. Rest assured that as soon as we receive the complaint-affidavit, Mr. Marcial shall answer all the allegations against him head-on," he explained.

The 29-year-old boxer is appealing to the media to refrain from spreading misinformation.

“Despite the social media publication, Mr. Marcial chooses to keep family matters private and as such, shall address any and all allegations against him in the proper forum. Mr. Marcial pleads with the media to refrain from spreading misinformation to mitigate any unfortunate and unfair conclusions about him and/or his family,” Atty. Morado said.

“Mr. Marcial remains focused on his career and will continuously bring honor and pride to our country and our kababayans. Mr. Marcial hopes that he will be vindicated as he undergoes our due process,” he added.

Eumir and Princess tied the knot in October 2021, months after the boxer's historic campaign in the Tokyo Olympics, where he bagged a bronze medal for the Philippines.

They got engaged in June 2020 before getting married.
