Stefan Wisnoski, Riot Games MANILA -- The Paper Rex train took off at full speed for their VALORANT Masters Toronto campaign opener, as they ran over Team Heretics with a 2-0 sweep.

The W Gaming squad continued their winning form fresh off their flawless Esports World Cup qualifier win, and returned to the global VCT arena with a vengeance after missing out on Masters Bangkok.

The match also marks the debut of PRX's Pinoy recruit Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza in the inter-regional stage and the first Filipino player from the Pacific region to step into a Masters tournament.

PRX started out with a dominating performance in their map pick, Pearl, as they limited the 2024 Champions runner-up with only a single round for the whole map, concluding in 13-1.

Heretics began fighting back in Icebox despite losing the initial rounds to PRX, concluding the first half at 5-7. As the second half commenced, PRX immediately erased the EMEA squad's lead with a 6-round win streak.

PRX will have a chance to exit the Swiss stage early and move up to the playoff stage if they win their next match scheduled either on June 10 or 11.
