MANILA, Philippines – League of Legends players in the Philippines can now go up against neighboring countries with ease as Riot Games announced a unified Southeast Asia server by January 2025.

"For the past two years, we’ve heard your calls. Today, we’re excited to announce a major step forward for players on the Thailand, Philippines, and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia servers. The long-requested Southeast Asia (SEA) server merge is soon becoming a reality! Why are we doing this? The answer is simple: to create the best possible experience for every game you play and to bring more players across the region together," said Riot Games in a press release.

With the merger, the update provides a larger player pool, faster and more accurate matchmaking for players of their skill level, fewer connection issues, and smoother and low-latency gameplay.

Most account details and Riot Points of players will remain, except Victory Points and Forum Badges. The Class Match History and Clash Club Affiliations on the Philippines and Thailand servers will not be transferred as well.

The merger is set to go live with patch 15.1 by January 9, 2025, which also kicks off the first season of League's brand-new seasonal model, picking up where Arcane Season 2 leaves off.

The merger also aligns with the recent announcement of the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), a new regional tournament for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. A wild card slot in the tournament's promotion and relegation system will pave the way for competitive play from SEA countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

On the sidelines of the Jinx's Safehouse event last November 23, Riot Games brand manager for League of Legends Kimi Salazar said that competitive Filipino League players can look forward to this opportunity in the near future.

"If our players are good enough if we're able to prove our worth, prove ourselves, we can actually compete in that portion of the LCP and see where it takes us."
