PBA: All-Filipino fave San Miguel overpowers Barangay Ginebra

MANILA, Philippines – All-Filipino favorite San Miguel secured an advantage early and never looked back in its 104-93 drubbing of Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

It was all Beermen from the get-go, firing a quick 14-2 run en route to a 25-11 opening canto.

The Beermen even led by as much as 23, while the Gin Kings never took the driver's seat.

CJ Perez took flight, headlining six Beermen in double figures with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Don Trollano delivered 19 markers, while eight-time MVP June Mar Fajardo had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Jericho Cruz tallied 11 points, while Juami Tiongson and Marcio Lassiter chipped in 10 each.

Leo Austria's wards notably shot on an efficient 51.9 percent field goal percentage, compared to the Ginebra side that shot 42.5 percent.

Ginebra's Troy Rosario paced his team with 24 points and eight rebounds. Stephen Holt and Jamie Malonzo collected a decent 16-point outing each.

San Miguel (3-1) goes for its fourth win against TNT on Sunday, May 4, while Ginebra (1-1) aims to vent its frustrations sooner against NorthPort on Wednesday, April 30.
