MANILA -- The Gilas Pilipinas women ended their 2025 FIBA Asia Cup 3x3 campaign with their best finish ever.

The shorthanded National halfcourt squad, competing sans the injured Camille Clarin, still managed to finish in fourth place after its set of games on Sunday in Singapore.

The Nationals defeated Mongolia in the tournament’s quarterfinals, 19-15, and this allowed Mikka Cacho, Jhaz Joson, and Kaye Pingol to advance to the semifinal round.

Unfortunately, Gilas lost steam in their following games as they were tripped by Japan in the semis, 22-9, and they ended the day with a 21-11 loss to China in the Battle for 3rd match.

In another setback, Clarin is expected to be out for the coming months after being diagnosed with a high-grade partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her right knee.

“The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas wishes Camille all the best as she starts her path to recovery. The federation will be with her every step of the way,” the federation, which also confirmed Clarin’s injury, said in a social media post.

This came during their 21-8 defeat to Australia Saturday night midway through the contest.

Still, the Philippines then went on to play inspired hoops amid her injury as they turned a 10-3 deficit into a 19-15 victory against the world no.12 Mongolia in the quarters.

In an Instagram story, Clarin expressed her gratitude for the prayeres and well wishes she received in the wake of her injury.

"In time, it'll make sense why this happened, but for now I leave it up to God," said Clarin. "The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it."

"I'm always grateful for another mountain to climb."
