Photo from PBA Images.MANILA — TNT Tropang GIGA got a huge lift from none other than Poy Erram in their crucial PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup Finals Game 6 win to stay alive in the best-of-7 series.

The veteran big man scored 12 points in TNT’s 87-83 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Wednesday, with Erram even hitting a three-pointer that pushed their lead to 10, as well as free throws which helped iced the game.

“Kailangan kong bumawi. Kailangan naming manalo kasi ayaw naming ganto lang matapos yung series,” said the former Ateneo de Manila University standout, who also had six rebounds, a steal, and a block, despite opening the contest with three quick fouls.

This was a welcome development for TNT and Erram, especially after the outbursts of the former Gilas Pilipinas center in the previous games, one wherein he and head coach Chot Reyes had a spat in Game 5.

“Sa mga nakikita niyo naman, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, I’ve been a distraction sa team. Everybody knows it, so gusto ko lang talaga makabawi,” he acknowledged.

“Meron akong mga sitwasyon na hindi ko naaayos kaya ako biglang pumipitik, at yun yung hindi naiintindihan ng mga tao.”

Erram, who bared that he is clinically diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as anxiety among others, also revealed that he has been dealing with the loss of his father who passed away last February 13.

He did not want to use this as an excuse, but Erram said that his off-court problems have just been too hard for him to set aside.

“Mahirap ‘to sabihin kasi baka sabihin ng ibang tao, gumagawa lang ako ng excuse, pero for the past weeks, since nung namatay yung papa ko, I’ve been in a really hard place,” he said.

“‘Di ko siya na-address, so parang nagbabayad ako dun. So nag sorry ako for being a distraction.”

“Ang hirap eh. Ang dami kong naririnig sa court, and kahit sabihin kong hindi nakaka-apekto, may mga times talagang nakaka-apekto eh. Nung last game, naapektuhan talaga ako. Nag breakdown ako kasi hindi ko talaga kinaya,” added Erram.

To help things get easier for Erram, he shared that he is seeking professional help which he also did in the past when he dealt with mental health problems before.

“I’m seeking help, para moving forward, hindi lang para sa team, para din sa pamilya ko and sa trabaho ko. If I don’t seek help, mahihirapan ako,” he said.

“’Di ko sasabihin na: ‘Ah, lalaki ako.’ Hindi, kailangan ko talaga ng tulong. Hindi masama humingi ng tulong,” added Erram, before sharing how his family has helped him deal with his problems.

“My family reminded me lang na kahit anong mangyari, manalo or matalo, andyan pa rin sila.”

Erram looks to further make up for his previous antics in Game 7 on Friday, but above all, what he wants is to seek forgiveness for those who have been affected by his actions.

“I apologize sa mga batang nanonood, sa team, sa bosses namin, sa TNT fans, sa media,” he emphasized. “I do apologize for how I act. Hindi ako yun eh, pero hindi ko kasi talaga alam kung anong nangyayari sa akin.”
