MANILA, Philippines – Heads up, sneakerheads!

Kyrie Irving's Kai 2 with Anta has two new colorways, released exactly on the date of the Dallas Mavericks star's birthday on Sunday, March 23.

The Kai 2 “Muse” and “Solar Return” flex the latest in Anta’s basketball shoe technology, prioritizing performance in contrast to the more lifestyle-leaning “Artist On Court” iteration, which was also released last March 8 here in the country.

The “Muse” and “Solar Return” both have a high-strength engineered mesh upper, backed by Nitroedge-infused midsoles.

Notably, the “Muse” is more conventional looking than the “Solar Return.”

Derived from Irving's own mantra, the words “I AM MY OWN MUSE” are stitched at the back of the “Muse,” serving as a reminder for hoopers to be persistent whatever journey they might be in.

The midsole of the “Muse” presents a black-to-white gradient, while the outsole has an icy, translucent rubber, and the upper part has blue, red, and white colors.

The “Solar Return” iteration honors Irving's 33rd birthday, according to Anta Philippines, presenting a tribal design with stitches of white, orange, light blue, and purple, meant to mimick daylight.

The heel is colored with teal and magenta, embroidered with ethnic designs.

Anta Philippines marked the launch at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City, highlighted by events such as the "Isahan" 1-on-1 tournament and performances from Legit Status, The Flip Ballaz, and Phil. Football Freestylers.

Several local players from the PBA, MPBL, UAAP, and NCAA also joined the fun, participating in the 3-point shootout and dunk contest.

Some professional players expressed desire to wear the Kai 2 as they attended the footwear event.

Anton Asistio of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters said he opted for the “Muse” for its simple design.

"Ako, personally I like it. Well kinuha ko 'yung 'Muse',  kasi personally gusto ko 'yung shoes ko medyo simple lang, 'yung wala masyadong nangyayari sa sapatos," said Asistio.

Magnolia Hotshots young gunner Peter Alfaro, who hails from Zamboanga City shared how he was inspired by the ethnic-inspired shoes.

"Sobrang gusto ko 'yung color, kasi for me it represents Zamboanga City -- the color, the culture, and tradition ni Kyrie na inilalabas niya ngayon," Alfaro shared.

"Gusto ko rin siya suotin for me kasi it represents 'yung culture ko from the province," Alfaro went on.

Big man James Laput, also from Magnolia, was honored to be part of Irving's legacy. "It's such a huge honor to be playing in his shoes," he said.
