ANTIPOLO CITY – Arvin Tolentino of the NorthPort Batang Pier won his breakthrough Best Player Conference award after helping his team reach the semifinals and cop the top seed after the elimination round of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup.

He was given the citation moments before Game 4 of the PBA Finals on Friday at the Ynares Center here.

Tolentino was the runaway winner of the BPC award after earning a total of 1072 points, edging TNT's Calvin Oftana who placed second at 777 points.

The Batang Pier star topped the media vote, garnering 564, while Oftana had 280 at second. He placed third in the stats and player vote with 454 and 54 points, respectively, to help his bid.

Tolentino admitted he thought about the MVP race, but he's not putting too much as according to him, it could be detrimental to the team.

"I'm not gonna really focus on that," Tolentino asserted. "Maiisip mo rin, but once kasi na mag-focus to chase that MVP, hindi rin makakatulong sa team."

Meanwhile, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson of the TNT Tropang Giga was named Best Import of the conference, his third -- the first two being his back-to-back individual nods in the past Governors' Cup contests.

He clinched 1280 points to edge out his NorthPort counterpart Kadeem Jack, who had 825. Ginebra's Justin Brownlee had 670 points, while Rain or Shine's Deon Thompson tallied 633.
