The Gilas Pilipinas star, who suffered an apparent dislocated thumb in his right hand, is ‘doubtful’ to play in their matchup vs. the TNT Tropang GIGA on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

“Justin is doubtful to play Game 4,” Ginebra head coach Tim Cone told ABS-CBN News on Thursday. “But he hasn't been ruled completely out yet.”

Brownlee suffered the injury after he dove for a loose ball in the third quarter of their 87-85 Game 3 loss on Wednesday, with his right thumb going against the hardwood as he fell onto the floor.

The resident Ginebra import initially stayed on their bench as their team’s physical therapists and trainers looked to give first aid which could help him return to the game, but it was to no avail.

Brownlee then returned to their locker room for further assessment, and he was eventually sent to the hospital for checking before the game ended.

With or without Brownlee, however, Ginebra deputy Richard Del Rosario emphasized how they must remain ready, especially with how pivotal Game 4 would be as they now trail, 2-1.

“Even if we lost Justin, we stayed in the game,” he pointed out. “But we don’t view it as an excuse talaga. We still expect to win because this is the championship, wala nang time for excuses.”

Game 4 of the best-of-seven tips off tomorrow, March 21, at 7:30 p.m.
