The NBA 2025 All-Star Weekend will kick off in San Francisco, California on Friday (February 13), but it won't all look the same as it has in previous editions.

Bryan Spruell, president of league operations, said the league is taking on elements from the tournament played on the Friday, which features the league's rookies and sophomores, known on All-Star weekend as the Rising Stars.

"The familiar part is actually the format--the mini tournament that we've been doing for several years now for the Rising Stars on Friday. And so now we're going to carry that champion over into Sunday night, also a mini tournament, which will be new for Sunday night," Spruell said on Thursday (February 12) at the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors and host of this year's All-Star Game.

The winning team of the Rising Stars tournament on Friday will advance to play against three All-Star teams on Sunday. Those teams are known as Shaquille O'Neal's OGs, Kenny Smith's Young Stars, and Charles Barkley's Global Stars.
