I was trying to be great the entire time, too, so thank you to everybody that watched me ever since sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, injuries, MVP, playoff losses, playoff wins,” he added.</p><p>Despite falling short of winning the Bulls their first championship since their glory days with Michael Jordan, Rose took the squad to multiple Eastern Conference Finals appearances while also winning the 2008-09 Rookie of the Year plum, being named to the All-NBA team once (2011), and getting three All-Star citations (2010-2012).</p><p>Injuries proved to be a major roadblock to Rose and the Bulls’ title aspirations as he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear and other leg injuries until his final season in Chicago in 2015-16, but the 1st overall pick of the 2008 Draft is not dwelling on what ifs.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/9/26/derrick-rose-youngest-ever-mvp-in-nba-to-retire-2127">READ: Derrick Rose, youngest ever MVP in NBA, to retire</a></div><p>&quot;Who knows? That’s something that I really don’t think about,&quot; said Rose, who also played for the New York Knicks, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Memphis Grizzlies before retiring in September 2024.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-pjpatncD2U?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></div><p>Rose was pertaining to the possibilities that he and the Bulls might have reached sans his setbacks, and the ‘Windy City Assassin’ stressed how dealing with those injuries instead helped him discover a lot about himself.</p><p>“The last time that I had those conversations was years, years ago. Who knows? But at the same time, with me being obsessed, I wouldn&#x27;t have found who I was as a person. I was obsessed with the game, so if I would have won one championship, I would have wanted four, and that would have pulled me away further and further from finding self-knowledge, self-revelation, and identity.”</p><p>“Everybody’s story is different. For some reason, it ended up being this way. Coming from Chicago, we roll with the punches,” added Rose, who is now a businessman and a filmmaker.</p><p>Once Rose’s jersey is officially retired next year, he will be joining Jordan (#23), Scottie Pippen (#33), Jerry Sloan (#4), and Bob Love (#10) as the Bulls whose numbers are forever immortalized by the franchise.</p><p>Meanwhile, the present Chicago squad completed their tribute for Rose through a 139-126 come-from-behind victory over the Knicks. </p>
