MANILA — Eumir Marcial, through his counsel Atty. Marlon Morada, responded to the statements that his wife, Princess, released on Friday regarding their marriage.

In a lengthy social media post, Princess shared the details of the Olympic boxer's alleged infidelity and abuse, claiming to have caught the national athlete having an affair last October 2024.

“I have had to deal with such difficult events in my personal life that took a toll on my mental and emotional health. Particularly, things in my marriage with Eumir that I may have kept out of the public,” she wrote.

“I caught Eumir having an affair in October last year. I, along with my sister, have personally caught them inside an AirBnB condominium in Pasay where we had them both arrested at a police station. Eumir and his mistress both had to be temporarily detained for 5 days.”

“Despite some of my family’s strong disapproval, I still gave Eumir multiple chances to make amends with our marriage, putting into consideration all that we have gone through and the difficult things we have survived as a couple,” she added.

Princess also alluded to "manipulation" and alleged that Eumir has been "living together with his mistress" in Zamboanga.

“Little did I know that what started as a small act quickly grew into a sickening love affair with his young mistress from his hometown in Zamboanga City. Currently, I’ve managed to maintain some correspondence with some of our mutual and trusted friends in Zamboanga City where they alluded that Eumir and his mistress have decided to live together.”

“Apparently, he withdrew all our savings and used the money to construct a house for himself and his mistress in Zamboanga. I also have friends who have personally seen them together,” she added.

Marcial, a Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist, said through his lawyer that he wants the issues to be tackled privately. He also assured that an official statement will be given once they have received a complaint-affidavit from his wife.

“Following the recent social media posts of Mr. Eumir Marcial's wife, we advise Mr. Marcial to address or respond to the allegations against him in the proper forum,” said Atty. Morada.

“To date, our client has not yet received a formal complaint affidavit from his wife or the appropriate government agency. Rest assured that as soon as we receive the complaint-affidavit, Mr. Marcial shall answer all the allegations against him head on.”

The 29-year-old Eumir also hopes that there will not be misinformation after the series of exchanges that have been spreading on social media between the two parties.

“Despite the social media publication, Mr. Marcial chooses to keep family matters private and as such, shall address any and all allegations against him in the proper forum. Mr. Marcial pleads with the media to refrain from spreading misinformation to mitigate any unfortunate and unfair conclusions about him and/or his family,” Atty. Morado said.

“Mr. Marcial remains focused on his career and will continuously bring honor and pride to our country and our kababayans. Mr. Marcial hopes that he will be vindicated as he undergoes our due process,” he added.

Eumir and Princess got married in October 2021, a few months after the boxer's triumphant campaign in Tokyo where he brought home one of the Philippines' four medals.

Among the guests in the beach wedding were Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, silver medalists Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino.

Before getting married, Eumir and Princess had been in a relationship for nine years. They got engaged in June 2020.

Also a pro boxer with a 5-0 win-loss record, Marcial competed in his second Olympics in Paris last year, but failed to reach the podium.
